Aileen Cole is a Senior Policy Research Specialist on the Energy Systems team at the Great Plains Institute, a Minnesota-based nonprofit that aims to accelerate the transition to net-zero carbon emissions for the benefit of people, the economy, and the environment. Aileen specializes in convening groups and facilitating conversations to identify solutions to current energy utility/regulatory issues. In 2023, Aileen helped convene and facilitate a DER Interconnection Working Group process for the Virginia State Corporation Commission and currently convenes similar ongoing working groups in both Connecticut and Maine. In addition to her work related to DER interconnection, Aileen conducts policy research and helps facilitate discussions on other complex topics in energy including alternative approaches to electric and gas utility regulation and electric rate design innovations.
Aileen has an MS in Science, Technology & Environmental Policy from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. In her free time, Aileen enjoys running, reading, and hanging out with her (very cute) dog.
